The thesis deals with a comparative analysis of the figure of the double in two short stories, "Strange Letter of a Lunatic" (1830) by James Hogg and "The Secret Sharer" (1909) by Joseph Conrad, with the support of the psychoanalytic theories of Otto Rank, Sigmund Freud and Carl Gustav Jung, pointed out in the first chapter after a corpus of chronologically ordered literary examples that show the theme of the double.
La tesi si occupa di analizzare in modo comparatistico la figura del doppio in due racconti, "Strange Letter of a Lunatic" (1830) di James Hogg e "The Secret Sharer" (1909) di Joseph Conrad, con il supporto delle teorie psicanalitiche di Otto Rank, Sigmund Freud e Carl Gustav Jung, riportate nel primo capitolo dopo un corpus di esempi letterari cronologicamente ordinati che presentano il tema del doppio.
