This study analyzes two key concepts in the Greek lexicon of time: αἰών and καιρός, with a particular focus on their semantic evolution and the role they have played in the development of Greek thought. Through a thorough examination of heterogeneous sources, based on the method of comparative alternation, the study proposes a reflection on how these two terms represent, in the Greek view of time and existence, a dialectical and complementary dimension between divine predetermination and human freedom of action. The reflection on time in the Greek world, in relation to αἰών and καιρός, highlights a significant maturity and awareness in addressing these themes, starting from the understanding that time exists only in the perception of those who experience it and seek to grasp its meanings.

Abstract
This study analyzes two key concepts in the Greek lexicon of time: αἰών and καιρός, with a particular focus on their semantic evolution and the role they have played in the development of Greek thought. Through a thorough examination of heterogeneous sources, based on the method of comparative alternation, the study proposes a reflection on how these two terms represent, in the Greek view of time and existence, a dialectical and complementary dimension between divine predetermination and human freedom of action. The reflection on time in the Greek world, in relation to αἰών and καιρός, highlights a significant maturity and awareness in addressing these themes, starting from the understanding that time exists only in the perception of those who experience it and seek to grasp its meanings.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
