Wine routes are able to link gastronomy, landscapes and culture, while promoting local products attracting tourists and food and wine enthusiasts. Even though it is a great tool it faces some challenges. I wanted to conduct a research on the Italian wine routes to better understand what might be the main issues, with a particular focus on the Asolo Montello wine route. I submitted a survey on the wineries present on the Asolo Montello Route (that are part of the Asolo Montello Consortium) compared with the wineries that are not part of the Asolo Montello route but present in the Consortium. I investigated the reasons that made the wineries adhere or not to the Asolo Montello route and consider future prospects facing these challenges.
