This thesis investigates the interplay between social sustainability and job selection, analyzing how sustainability-oriented practices influence job preferences in today’s labor market. Social sustainability, though increasingly recognized, remains underexplored in organizational and academic contexts relative to its economic and environmental counterparts. By examining sustainability’s foundational pillars—social, economic, and environmental—this study underscores the unique contributions of social sustainability to employee well-being and organizational success. Through a survey-based analysis, the research examines the relative importance of job attributes related to social sustainability, such as work-life balance, professional development, health, safety, equality, and inclusion, as prioritized by job seekers. Results suggest that a well-rounded commitment to social sustainability significantly shapes employee attraction, satisfaction, and retention, reflecting the growing emphasis on corporate social responsibility (CSR) and ethical practices in the workplace. This study aims to inform both employers and policymakers on the critical importance of integrating social sustainability into corporate strategies, ultimately fostering a more sustainable and socially responsive labor market.
