This thesis aims to explore the phenomenon of gender stereotypes in childhood, analyzing the ways in which these preconceptions are transmitted and internalized by boys and girls. Gender stereotypes, deeply rooted in society, influence expectations and behaviors already in the early stages of life, with long-term consequences on psychological, social and educational development. Through a critical review of the literature, this study examines the psychological and social theories that explain the formation and perpetuation of gender stereotypes, with particular attention to the role of family, peers, school and the media. Furthermore, the impacts of these stereotypes on the construction of gender identity and on the future choices of boys and girls are analyzed. The thesis concludes with a reflection on educational strategies and social interventions aimed at countering gender stereotypes, promoting more equal and inclusive growth. This work intends to offer a significant contribution to the understanding of gender dynamics in childhood and educational practices aimed at challenging and overcoming these prejudices.
