The female body has always been a symbolic and practical space for social control, where norms, expectations, and power dynamics are embedded. This thesis examines the relationship between the construction of femininity and the subordination of women, highlighting how the body is central to both domination and resistance practices. Through an interdisciplinary approach that includes gender studies, philosophy, and sociology, the thesis is structured into three main chapters. The first chapter explores the body as a cultural and symbolic tool, referencing theories by authors such as Pierre Bourdieu and Michel Foucault, emphasizing the concept of the "docile body" shaped by social norms. The second chapter focuses on the use and commodification of the female image in media and patriarchal society, analyzing the phenomenon of self-objectification and the aesthetic conditioning imposed on women. The third chapter addresses the reification of pain and the perception of the female body between pleasure and suffering, highlighting the implications of motherhood and the control of female sexuality. This research aims to contribute to a critical reflection on the strategies of domination and the forms of self-determination that women develop to reclaim their bodies and subjectivity. The analysis demonstrates how overcoming gender inequalities requires a redefinition of bodily representations and social practices, paving the way for greater awareness and female empowerment.

Abstract
The analysis demonstrates how overcoming gender inequalities requires a redefinition of bodily representations and social practices, paving the way for greater awareness and female empowerment.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
