The aim of this thesis is to examine some of the main theories in the philosophy of mind that are open to the possibility of a Theory of Consciousness able to bridge (or dissolve) the "explanatory gap" of the hard problem and to compare them with the relevant evidence from the fields of cognitive, neuro-cognitive, and psychological research, with the ultimate goal of identifying which lines of research are the most promising for a unified ToC.
