Silk culture, the art of breeding silkworms and producing silk, has ancient roots that sink in myths and legends that tell its origins and spread. The silkworm breeding will be investigated, analyzing not only its history and cultivation practices, but also the stories and traditions that have accompanied it in Europe and Asia. We focus on the silk production process, from traditional techniques to modern innovations, with a focus on spinning mills, which have been the core of the silk industry. Their reuse is also discussed, highlighting the importance of historical and cultural memory linked to these structures. Finally, the social and cultural aspects of silk will be analysed, examining its role as an artistic material and its symbolic significance through the centuries. Through this analysis, the thesis aims to highlight the importance of silk not only as an economic product, but also as a key element of our cultural and historical identity.
