Introduction Helping professionals work closely with individuals in deep suffering, facing daily psychological and emotional challenges. Examples of distress that may affect these workers are Burnout and Compassion Fatigue. A protective factor against the onset of these disorders is a high level of Compassion Satisfaction, meaning the gratification that professionals experience while doing their work. Supportive pathways to professional team action and a collaborative work environment are essential to prevent and manage the risk of developing these disorders. Research Objective The aim of the research is to analyze the quality of professional life of the workers at the Department of Addictions of ULSS 5 Polesana. The study seeks to investigate the psycho-physical and emotional well-being of operators by analyzing the levels of Compassion Satisfaction, Burnout, and Secondary Traumatic Stress, as well as protective and risk factors. Finally, the research aims to explore possible interventions that the professional educator could implement in teams to prevent vicarious disorders and improve work well-being. Materials and Methods The study will be conducted using observational research methods, where the researcher observes the context without intervening, recording some of its characteristics. Data for the research were collected through the administration of the ProQOL version 5 questionnaire, to which two additional open-ended questions were added to investigate other individual factors that may affect the perceived quality of work life. The study sample consists of 32 subjects. The results will be statistically analyzed while ensuring participant anonymity. The aim is to identify support interventions and the most effective strategies to provide for these professionals. Results The results from the ProQOL questionnaire reveal that participants are generally not at high risk, with a medium-low probability of developing vicarious disorders. Compassion Satisfaction levels vary widely among participants. The sample consists of professionals with different characteristics, including age and educational background. Regarding coping strategies, some participants find motivation in positive events that occur at work and by attributing value to their professional role, while others find relief through colleagues or engage in sports and recreational activities. Additionally, participants attribute work stress mainly to difficulties with colleagues, excessive workload, and low rewards related to high personal cost. Conclusions The research has provided insight into the well-being of professionals working in this department. According to the literature reviewed and the data collected, it is possible to propose targeted interventions for the prevention of Burnout and Secondary Traumatic Stress in order to reduce the risk level, although it is already low in this context. In this regard, the professional educator could promote practices for stress management, ranging from a healthy lifestyle to attending training courses and professional supervision. This approach helps professionals find new coping strategies, which can improve their work productivity, offer better services to patients, and promote their well-being and care.
