The present study explores the role of two constructs involved in online information seeking—online information overload (OIO) and online information trust (OIT)—in the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and cyberchondria. Through a theoretical analysis and a preliminary longitudinal study, it investigates how the perception of informational overload and the level of trust in digital sources may influence the emergence of dysfunctional behaviors related to online health information searching. The research aims to highlight the psychological mechanisms contributing to the development of cyberchondria by examining the main risk and protective factors identified in the literature and by further analyzing the psychological and behavioral consequences of the phenomenon. The findings provide useful insights for a better understanding of the underlying dynamics and offer directions for future intervention strategies aimed at reducing the associated psychological distress.

Abstract
The findings provide useful insights for a better understanding of the underlying dynamics and offer directions for future intervention strategies aimed at reducing the associated psychological distress.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
