Yoga for children is an increasingly widespread practice in the Western world. This paper aims to investigate in a concrete way if and how the discipline of yoga for children can be a valid pedagogical tool in the school context, in order to promote more aware boys and girls, able to fully live the present and become happy adults tomorrow. The project idea was born as a desire to theoretically deepen my strong passion for yoga, which I have been practicing and teaching for years, integrating this expertise with the pedagogical and didactic knowledge acquired during the five-year course just completed. To develop the topic in the most complete way, we tried to integrate the theory of yoga and research on its benefits in the physical, psychological and learning fields, with theories on child development, with particular attention to the body and recent theories of embodied cognition. The research outcomes show that teaching yoga in preschool and primary school is a practice that can bring great benefits and therefore it is a desirable activity for the well-being of children and their healthy development. In fact, it promotes personal well-being, facilitates interpersonal relationships, improves school performance; finally, it can help children, and future adults, to live a fuller and more conscious life.

Abstract
Yoga for children is an increasingly widespread practice in the Western world. This paper aims to investigate in a concrete way if and how the discipline of yoga for children can be a valid pedagogical tool in the school context, in order to promote more aware boys and girls, able to fully live the present and become happy adults tomorrow.
