The credibility crisis in science has sparked an intense process of conceptual and methodological reflection and debate, aiming to counter highly questionable practices such as selective reporting, HARKing, p-value fishing, and methodological fallacies based on a flawed understanding of statistical significance. This thesis aims to present meta-analytic thinking, meta-analysis, and multiverse analysis as both conceptual frameworks and practical tools designed to improve transparency and robustness in research, with a particular focus on psychology.
La crisi di credibilità della scienza ha avviato un intenso processo di riflessione e dibattito concettuale e metodologico nel tentativo di contrastare pratiche altamente discutibili come selective reporting, HARKing, p-value fishing e fallacie metodologiche fondate su un’errata considerazione della significatività statistica. Il seguente elaborato si propone di presentare il pensiero meta-analitico, la meta-analisi e la multiverse analysis come concezioni e applicazioni pratiche volte a migliorare la trasparenza e la robustezza della ricerca, con particolare riferimento alla psicologia.
