This thesis aims to investigate how childhood experiences of abuse or parental neglect and the development of insecure or disorganized attachment styles can influence an individual’s developmental trajectory, fostering the emergence of antisocial and criminal behaviors in adulthood. Starting from the theoretical foundations of attachment, the analysis focuses on how early experiences of neglect, maltreatment, and instability in primary relationships can profoundly impair a child's emotional and relational development. Particular attention is given to attachment disorders, considered pathological outcomes of deficient or traumatic caregiving environments, which increase the risk of emotional dysregulation, empathy deficits, and the development of antisocial traits. Through a critical review of the literature, the thesis highlights the psychological and neurobiological mechanisms mediating the transition from childhood traumatic experiences to the manifestation of deviant behaviors in adulthood. Furthermore, it emphasizes the importance of early preventive and therapeutic interventions aimed at recognizing and repairing dysfunctional attachment bonds, in order to break the intergenerational cycle of violence and deviance
