Online sex workers represent a population that is still subject to numerous prejudices and stigma. These individuals are often perceived as less human, and when they themselves become aware of such dehumanization (imposed by the outside environment), the term of “meta-dehumanization” comes into play. This research examines the consequences of stigma and meta-dehumanization, which are hypothesized to be negatively correlated with the subjective well-being and job satisfaction of online sex workers. The issue is explored through a questionnaire administered to the target of 85 participants. Based on the results obtained, a significant relationship was found between meta-dehumanization and internalized stigma. The latter proves to be a key factor in the reduction of well-being among online sex workers. In fact, the indirect relationship between meta-dehumanization and subjective well-being is crucial, and it would not have emerged without the inclusion of internalized stigma as a mediator. Lastly, the role of peers appears to be essential, as it represents a highly relevant protective factor. It is believed to favor resilience in individuals within the sample, by promoting and safeguarding well-being and both job and life satisfaction, while also preventing the internalization of stigma.

Abstract
It is believed to favor resilience in individuals within the sample, by promoting and safeguarding well-being and both job and life satisfaction, while also preventing the internalization of stigma.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
