The goal of this thesis is to reveal the essence of a wine hotel by determining its distinguishing features and characteristics in order to provide a definition. To achieve this goal, the following steps were taken in the study: a review of the scientific literature on the research topic was conducted; the characteristics of wine tourism were identified, and its role in regional development was determined; the main experiences offered by wineries and wine hotels were explored; the primary services provided by wine hotels were identified. Based on a review of the websites of fifty hotels that potentially fall into the category of wine hotels, the unique features of wine hotels were discovered; and a new definition for wine hotels was proposed. The high significance and importance of the conducted research stem from the fact that wine tourism continues to grow in importance. In this context, despite the vast number of hotels claiming to be wine hotels, there is still no clear definition of what constitutes a wine hotel. There are no specific requirements set for wine hotels, and the main features and characteristics of wine hotels have not been established. This complicates the operations of not only wine hotels but also makes it challenging for potential tourists to choose a specific hotel. Based on the results of the conducted research, the following mandatory conditions for wine hotels have been identified: location in a wine-producing region; wine tasting in a tasting room or a designated area for this purpose; guided tours or expert-led tours of the winery (or by the winemaker themselves); unique concept; focus on well-being. The main result of the research was the proposal of the author's concept of a "wine hotel," which is defined as follows: "A wine hotel is a hotel located in a wine-producing region that offers guests a unique and immersive guest experience featuring local wine and terroir by creating a sense of place where guests can engage and connect with the culture, history, and sensory pleasures of wine. While it is not mandatory to have its own vineyard or winery, such facilities must be nearby, enhancing the authenticity of the experience. Thus, a wine hotel may be found in the countryside, a small town, or a village. It is usually a luxury or upscale hotel (4 stars and above) offering excellent guest service. Wine elements are typically carried into the hotel design, incorporating historical structures in the buildings and guestrooms in which the design reflects the wine culture. This may include elements like vineyard-inspired decor and wine-themed amenities. They offer vineyard and/or winery tours and a tasting room. Wines (especially wines produced locally or on-site) can be purchased through the hotel’s branded store, an online shop, or at their bar. A wine hotel will typically have a restaurant or bar prominently featuring local wines with the goal of creating a memorable experience. The cuisine often features traditional dishes with seasonal or local ingredients paired with regional wines. Additional services provided (but not required) by wine hotels include fitness, recreation, spa, and tour activities which focus on well-being, relaxation, rejuvenation, and quality of life.”

Abstract
The goal of this thesis is to reveal the essence of a wine hotel by determining its distinguishing features and characteristics in order to provide a definition. To achieve this goal, the following steps were taken in the study: a review of the scientific literature on the research topic was conducted; the characteristics of wine tourism were identified, and its role in regional development was determined; the main experiences offered by wineries and wine hotels were explored; the primary services provided by wine hotels were identified.
