In recent years, the area cultivated with Corylus avellana, both nationally and globally, has significantly increased, driven by the growing demand from the confectionery industry, where hazelnuts play a key role. New orchards are increasingly adopting a single-stem (monocaulous) training system, which allows for more efficient mechanization and lower management costs, thanks to the natural suppression of suckers, which are typical of the species. In this context, the nursery sector must meet the rising demand by providing healthy plant material, produced quickly and safely from a phytosanitary standpoint, and capable of developing a monocaulous vegetative habit an objective made possible through grafting onto Corylus colurna. This thesis examines the current methods of hazelnut propagation, with a particular focus on innovative techniques such as grafting and micropropagation, outlining their advantages, challenges, and recent research aimed at improving their efficiency.

Abstract
This thesis examines the current methods of hazelnut propagation, with a particular focus on innovative techniques such as grafting and micropropagation, outlining their advantages, challenges, and recent research aimed at improving their efficiency.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
