This thesis explores the impact of BookTok, the literary community born on TikTok, on the revival of printed books and the transformation of the contemporary publishing landscape. The analysis focuses on the role of self-publishing platforms in the emergence of new authors and the spread of genres such as romance and fantasy, which are particularly popular among digital readers. Through case studies and an observation of viral dynamics, the study highlights how online communities influence publishing strategies and promote more inclusive and diverse content. In this context, it also examines collaborations between digital platforms and major publishing houses, outlining future scenarios for publishing across digital and physical formats.
La tesi indaga l’impatto di BookTok, la community letteraria nata su TikTok, sulla rinascita dei libri cartacei e sulla trasformazione del panorama editoriale contemporaneo. L’analisi si concentra sul ruolo delle piattaforme di self-publishing, nell’emergere di nuovi autori e nella diffusione di generi come il romance e il fantasy, particolarmente popolari tra i lettori digitali. Attraverso casi studio e l’osservazione delle dinamiche virali, il lavoro evidenzia come le community online influenzino le strategie editoriali e favoriscano contenuti più inclusivi e diversificati. In questo contesto, si esplorano anche le collaborazioni tra piattaforme digitali e grandi gruppi editoriali, delineando scenari futuri per l’editoria tra digitale e fisico.
