Since Harald Hagendahl's seminal study, "Latin Fathers and the Classics" (Gothenburg 1958), new light has been shed on the relationship between Jerome and the ancient classics. Over the years, several articles have further enriched this legacy, highlighting how Terence, second only to Virgil, played a crucial role in the Stridonensis's personal culture. His correspondence is a fundamental testimony to the reworking of Terentian palliata: we will analyze its citations and any allusions, as well as their specific purposes.

Abstract
Since Harald Hagendahl's seminal study, "Latin Fathers and the Classics" (Gothenburg 1958), new light has been shed on the relationship between Jerome and the ancient classics. Over the years, several articles have further enriched this legacy, highlighting how Terence, second only to Virgil, played a crucial role in the Stridonensis's personal culture. His correspondence is a fundamental testimony to the reworking of Terentian palliata: we will analyze its citations and any allusions, as well as their specific purposes.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
