The reuse of burial spaces in the Western Phoenician and Punic necropolis of Nora (7th-3rd centuries BC, Cagliari) is a frequently attested phenomenon thanks to excavations conducted by the University of Padova since 2014. Hypogeum tombs from the Punic period are particularly affected by this phenomenon, with depositions occurring until the 3rd century BCE. This Bachelor’s thesis aims to study the context, discovered in 2024, of the amphora US 4219 from hypogeum T64, within which numerous human skeletal and dental remains were found, referable to several individuals of different age classes. Through macroscopic analysis of the material (aimed at identifying the Minimum Number of Elements and Individuals present, their age at death, and, for adult individuals, their sex) and comparison with other coeval necropolises in Sardinia, the aim of the study is to better understand the nature of this context (enchytrismòs burial or dowry element) and the dynamics of its reuse.

Abstract
The reuse of burial spaces in the Western Phoenician and Punic necropolis of Nora (7th-3rd centuries BC, Cagliari) is a frequently attested phenomenon thanks to excavations conducted by the University of Padova since 2014. Hypogeum tombs from the Punic period are particularly affected by this phenomenon, with depositions occurring until the 3rd century BCE. Through macroscopic analysis of the material (aimed at identifying the Minimum Number of Elements and Individuals present, their age at death, and, for adult individuals, their sex) and comparison with other coeval necropolises in Sardinia, the aim of the study is to better understand the nature of this context (enchytrismòs burial or dowry element) and the dynamics of its reuse.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
