This thesis addresses the theme of self-determination and autonomy of people with disabilities. In particular, it analyzes innovative housing solutions, such as co-housing, with a final focus on the challenges that still exist at a global level. The first chapter introduces the concept of self-determination, referring to the Self-Determination Theory (SDT) and illustrating strategies to promote autonomy, especially in autistic individuals, through respect for personal preferences, personalized communication, and safe environments. The second chapter is dedicated to explaining co-housing as a housing model that combines autonomy and support, particularly for people with disabilities, examining the DOHMO system. Finally, the last chapter shows how, despite regulatory progress (Law 112/2016 “After Us”) and global goals (Agenda 2030), significant obstacles remain in Italy and worldwide to achieving full housing autonomy for people with disabilities.

Abstract
Finally, the last chapter shows how, despite regulatory progress (Law 112/2016 “After Us”) and global goals (Agenda 2030), significant obstacles remain in Italy and worldwide to achieving full housing autonomy for people with disabilities.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
