In 2023, according to ISTAT data, the road mortality rate in Italy was 51.5 deaths per million inhabitants, still a considerably high figure despite the measures implemented at both national and European levels. In this context, Traffic Psychology plays a key role by aiming to analyze road infrastructure characteristics, driving behaviors, and the psychological processes of drivers, with the ultimate goal of developing effective preventive programs to promote public health and safety. This thesis focuses on the correlation between driving behaviors and driving styles, based on the Big Five personality theory. The thesis is divided into three chapters: the first provides an updated analysis of road accident and mortality data in Italy and Europe, with an in-depth look at risky driving behaviors and their predictive factors. The second chapter explores how personality traits contribute to driving behaviors through the Big Five model and the Sensation Seeking dimension. The third chapter presents three psychological assessment tools commonly used in research, the Multidimensional Driving Style Inventory, Driver Behaviour Questionnaire, and Dula Dangerous Driving Index. Furthermore, it also describes the functionalities of the Honda Riding Trainer driving simulator. The aim of this work is to compare the main scientific findings regarding the predictive capacity of various factors, particularly personality traits, in relation to road violations, in order to identify which users might benefit most from targeted training programs.

Abstract
The aim of this work is to compare the main scientific findings regarding the predictive capacity of various factors, particularly personality traits, in relation to road violations, in order to identify which users might benefit most from targeted training programs.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
