This thesis investigates the contribution of Animal-Assisted Interventions (AAI), commonly known as pet therapy, to the psychological well-being of hospitalized children, with particular attention to the role of the human-animal bond as a relational resource within the hospital setting. The analysis focuses on the main scientific evidence regarding the emotional, relational, and physiological benefits associated with these interventions, also considering individual factors that may influence their effectiveness. The thesis concludes with reflections on the psychological and ethical implications of integrating AAI into pediatric care pathways.
