This thesis explores the therapeutic process within a mediated clinical group for emerging adults. The method used is Photolangage, a device that employs photography as a mediating object. The group, composed of five university students, was held at SCUP (Servizio Clinico Universitario Psicologico) of the University of Padua. The aim of the study was to analyze the frequency and evolution of negative affective themes that emerged over twelve sessions, through a qualitative adaptation of the Affect in Play Scale (APS), an observational tool originally designed for childhood, applied to memory, based session reports. Interest in this age group stems from the need to recognize emerging adulthood as a specific developmental phase, characterized by affective vulnerabilities and complex identity tasks. Photolangage, through the use of images as mediating objects, facilitated the activation of symbolic processes related to experiences that are difficult to mentalize. The results highlight a progressive increase in the quality and variety of affective themes over the course of the sessions, with negative expressiveness mainly centered on sadness, frustration, and aggressiveness, and a positive component primarily focused on happiness, affection, and care. The work concludes with a reflection on the potential of this tool in clinical settings aimed at emerging adults, as well as on the methodological limitations of the research.
