This paper aims to investigate whether, and to what extent, university students wish to change their Social, Emotional, and Behavioral (SEB) skills in relation to personality traits. It is hypothesized that, depending on the domain under consideration, participants will report significantly different improvement goals for skills compared to basic personality tendencies. Furthermore, it is expected that changes in personality traits will be perceived as more feasible. A total of 101 students from different years of study were administered two questionnaires via Qualtrics to assess how much they wanted to change, and how changeable they perceived, both basic tendencies and competencies. The response scores for each skill and trait domain were summed and the means were compared using t-tests. The data reveal differences between personality traits and SEB skills: improving social interaction and innovation abilities appears to be more important than improving the corresponding traits of Extraversion and Openness. Regarding the perceived feasibility of change, the initial hypothesis did not receive strong support.
