This thesis focuses on the role of Cooperative Credit Banks (BCCs) within the framework of sustainable finance. The paper traces the origins of cooperative credit and BCCs in the Italian context, leading to an analysis of these institutions in light of recent developments in banking regulations. Building upon the legislation that governs both their corporate structure and the fundamental principles of cooperative lending activity, the thesis offers a detailed interpretation of ESG principles and explores their potential application through the BCC system itself.
