The thesis investigates the role of picture books within intercultural contexts in early childhood settings, aiming to understand how these tools can promote inclusion, intercultural dialogue, and the positive construction of identity in children aged 0–3. It begins by exploring the educational value of storytelling and picture books, highlighting their key characteristics and their potential in fostering reading within multicultural environments. The concept of interculturality is then analyzed, distinguishing it from multiculturality, and the main pedagogical references that emphasize its importance as an educational approach are discussed. The role of early childhood education services in shaping identity and promoting inclusion is also addressed. The final part of the thesis focuses on cultural representations within picture books, presenting an analysis of selected texts on intercultural themes. Finally, the role of the educator as both cultural and literary mediator is emphasized. The thesis concludes by underlining the value of picture books as pedagogical tools capable of fostering encounters and mutual recognition within a context of cultural plurality.
