This thesis analyzes the process of spreading the Italian language within the Argentine school system, starting from the migratory phenomenon that involved millions of Italians between the 19th and 20th centuries. Through a historical, sociolinguistic, and institutional approach, the work aims to investigate the dynamics that accompanied the introduction and evolution of Italian as a language of instruction in a foreign context. At the same time, the thesis explores the role of education as a tool for integration and identity preservation, analyzing the contribution of institutions that enabled the diffusion of the Italian language within schools. The thesis is divided into three chapters: the first focuses on the historical and sociolinguistic aspects of Italian migration; the second delves into the educational and identity dimensions, analyzing the role of schools and the teaching of the language; and the third reconstructs the regulatory framework, highlighting the policies and initiatives that have supported the spread of Italian over time.
La presente tesi analizza il processo di diffusione della lingua italiana nel sistema scolastico argentino, partendo dal fenomeno migratorio che ha interessato milioni di italiani tra il XIX e il XX secolo. Attraverso un approccio storico, sociolinguistico e istituzionale, il lavoro si propone di indagare le dinamiche che hanno accompagnato l’introduzione e l’evoluzione dell’italiano come lingua di insegnamento in un contesto straniero. Parallelamente, la tesi esplora il ruolo dell’educazione come strumento di integrazione e conservazione identitaria, analizzando il contributo delle istituzioni che hanno permesso la diffusione della lingua italiana all’interno delle scuole. La tesi si articola in tre capitoli: il primo si concentra sull’aspetto storico e sociolinguistico dell’emigrazione italiana; il secondo approfondisce la dimensione educativa e identitaria, analizzando il ruolo della scuola e dell’insegnamento della lingua; il terzo ricostruisce il quadro normativo, mettendo in luce le politiche e le iniziative che hanno sostenuto la diffusione dell’italiano nel tempo
