The process of adaptation has historically involved a countless array of literary works that have been reinterpreted with the unique conventions and tools of different mediums. This study aims to examine and inspect the historical context, temporal framework and cultural circumstances that surrounded the creation of both Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus, published in 1818 by Mary Shelley, and 1931 Frankenstein motion picture film, directed by James Whale. By investigating these dimensions, the research aims to uncover the intricate and multifaceted connections woven into the layers of the iconic Frankenstein narrative and character adaptation, while taking into account the influence of two fundamentally different historical time frames and audiences on the procedure.
