The proposed thesis will focus on the study and analysis of the community of Peruvian immigrant women residing in Padua and its surrounding provinces. Specifically, the research aims to investigate the structure of this community, understood not so much as a formal or organized entity, but rather as a network of relationships bound by a shared sense of belonging. The study will explore the forms of mutual support enacted by its members, as well as the internal dynamics that characterize the community. Attention will be given to the origins of this social formation and to the customs and practices in which the women, to varying degrees, participate. The research will also seek to determine whether a hierarchical structure exists within the community and what forms of power relations shape the organization of social events. An additional area of interest concerns gender relations within the group. The methodology will include semi-structured interviews and participant observation during moments of social gathering and exchange, such as religious festivities, church services, communal meals, and similar events. Although this specific case has not yet been explored within the field of social research, existing literature offers a wide range of relevant studies and documentation on immigrant communities, which will serve as a valuable foundation for the analysis. Lastly, the thesis will incorporate data drawn from regional and national reports concerning the Peruvian population residing in the areas of interest, in order to assess the extent to which individuals actively participate in the community under study.
