Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) are neurodevelopmental disorders that present a complex reality which is still too often misunderstood as laziness or lack of willingness. In the child’s growth there is the crucial role of parents: how do they face this journey? What impact do they have on their child's self-esteem and psychological well-being? This paper aims to explore the child's educational journey through the family's perspective, from the first academic difficulties to diagnosis and the planning of a concrete intervention to promote independence and motivation. Thanks to a welcoming and inclusive approach, learning could become an opportunity for emotional and personal maturation, because SLDs are not a label or a limitation, but a resource that makes people aware of their strengths.

Abstract
Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) are neurodevelopmental disorders that present a complex reality which is still too often misunderstood as laziness or lack of willingness. In the child’s growth there is the crucial role of parents: how do they face this journey? What impact do they have on their child's self-esteem and psychological well-being? This paper aims to explore the child's educational journey through the family's perspective, from the first academic difficulties to diagnosis and the planning of a concrete intervention to promote independence and motivation. Thanks to a welcoming and inclusive approach, learning could become an opportunity for emotional and personal maturation, because SLDs are not a label or a limitation, but a resource that makes people aware of their strengths.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
