This thesis investigates Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) through a comparative lens, analyzing the condition in both humans and animals. The first part of the work focuses on identifying and comparing core symptoms, behavioral patterns, and the impact of PTSD across species. Based on this comparative framework, the study then narrows its focus to domestic dogs, examining the presence of PTSD-like signs and behaviors. An experimental behavioral test was developed and applied to a selected group of dogs in order to collect preliminary observational data. The results were analyzed using statistical tools to detect possible behavioral patterns associated with traumatic experiences. The study also highlights the potential contribution of citizen science in supporting large-scale behavioral research. Findings from this work offer insight into trauma-related responses in dogs and suggest directions for future investigation in the field of animal emotional health and welfare.

Abstract
This thesis investigates Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) through a comparative lens, analyzing the condition in both humans and animals. The first part of the work focuses on identifying and comparing core symptoms, behavioral patterns, and the impact of PTSD across species.
