This bachelor's thesis investigates the causes behind the progressive failure of international diplomacy in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Stemming from the fundamental question of why the art of mediation has proven ineffective in this context, the analysis focuses on the strategic role of two key actors: the United States and the European Union. The central argument is that the disengagement or partial approach adopted by Washington and Brussels does not constitute a form of neutrality but rather represents an active factor in the aggravation of the crisis. The thesis posits that this diplomatic vacuum has systematically eroded the protective mechanisms of international law. Such an absence has fostered a conflict management approach dominated by nationalist agendas and vested interests, creating a climate of impunity wherein gross human rights violations not only persist but intensify. In conclusion, this work demonstrates that diplomatic inertia is not a cost-free option but entails an exceedingly high price in terms of human lives, denied rights, and shattered hopes. It is argued that peace and justice cannot flourish in a terrain abandoned by politics and law. Therefore, reaffirming the primacy of diplomacy and human rights emerges not only as a strategic choice but as a moral imperative that the international community is called upon to undertake.
