The text, in the first chapter, provides a detailed analysis of the organs that make up the US Department of State, linking to each organ the method and purposes for which it was used by the two different presidencies. Subsequently, the operating methods of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the American Congress, with relative voting procedures. In the second chapter, the facts that affected the situation of tension will be reconstructed between North Korea and South Korea, with particular attention to the tomes that have been organized, to the international subjects involved and to the main purposes for which they were in place. The topic will be deepened with a study of the behavior of the southern Korean government towards the choices of the US presidents. The third chapter analyzes the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, providing a historical picture of the events that took place. The statements and the dialectic of the two presidents will be highlighted in concerning the issue, in order to clarify how the opinio iuris us US towards the conflict has changed over time.

Il testo, nel primo capitolo, fornisce un’analisi dettagliata degli organi che compongono il Dipartimento di Stato americano, collegando a ciascun organo il metodo e gli scopi per cui esso è stato utilizzato da parte delle due diverse presidenze. Successivamente si esporrà la modalità di funzionamento della Commissione esteri del Congresso americano, con relative procedure di voto. Nel secondo capitolo saranno ricostruiti i fatti che hanno interessato la situazione di tensione tra Corea del Nord e Corea del Sud, con attenzione particolare ai vertici che sono stati organizzati, ai soggetti internazionali coinvolti e agli scopi principali per cui essi sono stati posti in essere. Il tema sarà approfondito con uno studio dei comportamenti del governo sud coreano nei confronti delle scelte dei presidenti statunitensi. Il terzo capitolo analizza la ritirata delle truppe statunitensi dall’Afghanistan, fornendo un quadro storico dei fatti avvenuti. Saranno poste in rilievo le dichiarazioni e la dialettica dei due presidenti in merito alla questione, in modo da chiarire come l’opinio iuris statunitense nei confronti del conflitto sia cambiata nel tempo.
