Dehumanization of the patient by the doctor represents an endemic phenomenon in clinical practice, characterized by the failure of the health care provider to recognize the full humanity of the patient. This process has significant implications for the psychological and physical health of both parties involved in the interaction, with possible fallout in terms of reduced therapeutic adherence, increased stress and burnout. In recent years, research has expanded to include patients' perceptions of their doctors, paying particular attention to factors related to empathy and expression of physician emotions. The present study is part of this line of research, with the aim of investigating how aspects of the docotor's nonverbal and paraverbal communication can influence the patient's perception of the physician, with significant effects on the trust placed in the health care provider, overall satisfaction with the visit, and therapeutic adherence.

Abstract
Dehumanization of the patient by the doctor represents an endemic phenomenon in clinical practice, characterized by the failure of the health care provider to recognize the full humanity of the patient. This process has significant implications for the psychological and physical health of both parties involved in the interaction, with possible fallout in terms of reduced therapeutic adherence, increased stress and burnout. In recent years, research has expanded to include patients' perceptions of their doctors, paying particular attention to factors related to empathy and expression of physician emotions. The present study is part of this line of research, with the aim of investigating how aspects of the docotor's nonverbal and paraverbal communication can influence the patient's perception of the physician, with significant effects on the trust placed in the health care provider, overall satisfaction with the visit, and therapeutic adherence.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
