The aim of this paper is to investigate the relationship between emotional competence and resilience in adopted children. The 'SDQ' and 'CYRM' questionnaires were administered to parents of adopted children (ages 5–10) and to adolescents (ages 11–16). The results were compared with a control group of non-adopted children and adolescents of the same age and gender. The first hypothesis examined differences between the groups in terms of emotional competence and resilience, assessing the impact of adoption on these variables. The second hypothesis explored the existence of a significant correlation between emotional competence and resilience. The third hypothesis analyzed the two variables within the groups separately, while the final hypothesis investigated the influence of age and gender. The results do not show significant differences between the groups but do reveal significant correlations between emotional competence and resilience, with different patterns in the separate groups. Age and gender were not found to have an influence on any variable.
