The present thesis aims to analyze parenthood in the current digitized society, focusing on the impact of problematic smartphone use in adulthood and its possible psychological repercussions. Among them, special attention is devoted to the emerging phenomenon of parental phubbing, understood as child-distracting behavior due to constant use of the device, along with the implications in the quality of the parent-child relationship. The research underlying this thesis paper intends to test the association between such behavior and the choice of mediation strategies to be adopted to educate children in a conscious use of technology and explores the link between family structure and parental behaviors related to the use of digital technologies. The data were collected through the administration of a self-report questionnaire, collecting a sample of 937 parents. The results confirm a negative, although weak, correlation between the age of the parent and the tendency towards problematic smartphone use and phubbing, while no significant correlations emerge between phubbing and the type of educational mediation adopted. The results emerging from the study were discussed critically, carrying out both a comparison with what is present in the literature and in an exploratory way, considering variables of a contextual, social, psychological and methodological nature that may have contributed to the observed outcomes.

Abstract
The results emerging from the study were discussed critically, carrying out both a comparison with what is present in the literature and in an exploratory way, considering variables of a contextual, social, psychological and methodological nature that may have contributed to the observed outcomes.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
