Food allergy in childhood represents a chronic condition with a significant impact on the quality of life of both children and their families, with emotional, behavioral, and social implications. The present study investigated the associations between sociodemographic and clinical variables, quality of life, children’s emotional-behavioral characteristics, and parents’ perception of the illness, distinguishing between maternal and paternal perspectives. The results highlighted significant differences between the two groups: mothers showed greater sensitivity to emotional and internalizing aspects, while fathers focused more on behavioral and prosocial dimensions. Despite methodological limitations, the study emphasizes the importance of integrated psychoeducational interventions that take into account the different parental perspectives and provide targeted support for families in managing the condition, while also laying the groundwork for future research.

Abstract
Food allergy in childhood represents a chronic condition with a significant impact on the quality of life of both children and their families, with emotional, behavioral, and social implications. The present study investigated the associations between sociodemographic and clinical variables, quality of life, children’s emotional-behavioral characteristics, and parents’ perception of the illness, distinguishing between maternal and paternal perspectives. The results highlighted significant differences between the two groups: mothers showed greater sensitivity to emotional and internalizing aspects, while fathers focused more on behavioral and prosocial dimensions. Despite methodological limitations, the study emphasizes the importance of integrated psychoeducational interventions that take into account the different parental perspectives and provide targeted support for families in managing the condition, while also laying the groundwork for future research.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
