In recent decades, the paternal role has gained increasing attention in the psychological literature on child development, although research remains largely focused on the maternal figure. This thesis contributes to a growing body of studies aimed at addressing this imbalance by deepening our understanding of fatherhood and paternal parenting. Specifically, the research explores the potential association between fathers’ executive functions and the quality of the father-child relationship during early childhood (ages 1–5). Conducted with a sample of fathers with preschool-aged children, the study also reflects on the possible implications of this relationship for children’s emotional development, particularly their capacity for affective regulation. Although exploratory in nature, the findings are expected to offer valuable insights for future research and for the development of interventions that support parenting and promote more aware and functional family relationships.

Abstract
Although exploratory in nature, the findings are expected to offer valuable insights for future research and for the development of interventions that support parenting and promote more aware and functional family relationships.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
