Enamel defects represent a complex group of qualitative and quantitative alterations reflecting dysfunctions affecting ameloblasts during the stages of morphological differentiation and mineralization. These alterations may have genetic, systemic, local, or iatrogenic etiologies and manifest clinically with variable phenotypes, including hypoplasia, hypomineralization, discoloration, and opacity. This highlights the need for appropriate professional competencies in identifying and analyzing the main defects, with a focus on the etiopathogenetic distinction between different clinical presentations and their therapeutic and preventive implications, within a framework of interdisciplinary management.
