This research explores the experience of those living in Italy who feel "elsewhere" within their own country, focusing on bodies perceived as out of place within the dominant national imagination. The research aims to analyze forms of everyday racism in Italy, investigate the intertwining of gender and race in the construction of identity, and convey the narratives of those who feel "elsewhere" within their own country. Through a qualitative approach based on semi-structured interviews and autobiographical narratives, the study highlights individual experiences without reducing them to mere statistics, revealing the complexity of identity dynamics. The thesis is divided into three parts: the first describes the various manifestations of racism, real or perceived; the second analyzes the Italian context, with particular attention to the construction of Italianness and the experiences of Black women; the third presents the empirical research, including the interviews and narratives collected, accompanied by a critical interpretation.
