The emotion regulation (ER) is considered as a multycomponential construct that allows the individual to keep optimal levels of cognitive, motivational and emotional arousal, and to control and regulate own emotion even according to environmental requirements (Diamond, 2013). The present thesis project investigates the relation between the ER and the perceived family support in a sample of preadolescents of a first-grade secondary school in Padua, considering the role of cardiac vagal tone (HF-HRV). Afterwards, will be discussed and analyzed the results of the following research questions: (1) the association between ER difficulties detected through the HF-HRV and emotional and behavioral problems in preadolescents, (2) the association between the perceived family support and internalizing and externalizing problems in preadolescents, and (3) the effect of the interaction between the HF-HRV and the perceived family support on the emotional and behavioral problems.

Abstract
The emotion regulation (ER) is considered as a multycomponential construct that allows the individual to keep optimal levels of cognitive, motivational and emotional arousal, and to control and regulate own emotion even according to environmental requirements (Diamond, 2013). The present thesis project investigates the relation between the ER and the perceived family support in a sample of preadolescents of a first-grade secondary school in Padua, considering the role of cardiac vagal tone (HF-HRV). Afterwards, will be discussed and analyzed the results of the following research questions: (1) the association between ER difficulties detected through the HF-HRV and emotional and behavioral problems in preadolescents, (2) the association between the perceived family support and internalizing and externalizing problems in preadolescents, and (3) the effect of the interaction between the HF-HRV and the perceived family support on the emotional and behavioral problems.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
