Soft skills, often defined as social-emotional and behavioural skills, are a crucial factor in students' development and academic success. This research aims to analyse the associations between social, emotional and behavioural skills (SEB skills), academic performance and school well-being in a sample of secondary school students. To this end, the Big Five Inventory of Social, Emotional, and Behavioural Skills (BESSI) was used, a recently developed tool for assessing these skills in a multidimensional way. The study is part of the contemporary debate that recognises the role of non-cognitive skills not only as predictors of academic performance but also as determinants of psychological well-being and the quality of the school experience. The objective is twofold: on the one hand, to help clarify the theoretical models that link transversal skills to school outcomes and well-being; on the other, to provide practical guidance for educational interventions and guidance programmes. The expected results, in addition to strengthening the scientific evidence on the subject, can support teachers and institutions in promoting programmes to enhance transversal skills, thus promoting both academic performance and the overall wellbeing of students.

Soft skills, often defined as social-emotional and behavioural skills, are a crucial factor in students' development and academic success. The objective is twofold: on the one hand, to help clarify the theoretical models that link transversal skills to school outcomes and well-being; on the other, to provide practical guidance for educational interventions and guidance programmes.
