This thesis addresses the issue of academic procrastination, investigating the link between the delay of university tasks and the underlying metacognitive and motivational processes. Specifically, the first chapter provides a comprehensive representation of the construct, analyzing its prevalence within the university context and the resulting severe emotional and behavioral consequences. The second chapter explores the metacognitive approach through Wells' model, examining how beliefs about thought and the monitoring of one's own mental functioning fuel student blockage. Finally, the integration between cognitive variables and motivational components is analyzed, identifying academic career indicators as predictive signals of procrastination risk. The analysis suggests that a targeted intervention on metacognitive processes can significantly reduce the efficacy-failure spiral, promoting educational success and student well-being.

Abstract
The analysis suggests that a targeted intervention on metacognitive processes can significantly reduce the efficacy-failure spiral, promoting educational success and student well-being.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
