Emotion regulation represents a fundamental process for social adaptation and psychological well-being, as it enables individuals to monitor and modulate their emotional reactions according to the context and personal goals. Numerous studies have highlighted how children and adolescents with ADHD show difficulties in self-regulating and inhibiting both positive and negative emotions, with repercussions on academic, social, and family functioning. At the same time, the literature has emphasized the role of parenting style in shaping the emotional regulation abilities of children with ADHD and, consequently, in limiting the development of comorbid disorders. The present thesis aims to explore the relationship between ADHD, emotion regulation, and parenting style, with particular attention to the influence that specific educational approaches may exert on the emotional regulation abilities of children with ADHD. To this end, two children with ADHD and two children without a diagnosis, matched for age, gender, and cognitive functioning, will be compared through the administration of paper-and-pencil questionnaires. The thesis will discuss the results and their related clinical and educational implications.
