It is well known that the symmetries of a quantum system can be realized, from a formal point of view, through purely projective representations of the corresponding group. This can be seen as the manifestation, at the level of non‑relativistic quantum mechanics, of a phenomenon known in quantum field theory as a ’t Hooft anomaly. The aim of this thesis is to show, through specific examples, how the presence of an anomaly can be exploited to study the degeneracy of the Hamiltonian spectrum, obtaining results that remain invariant under a wide class of perturbations of the model.

Abstract
It is well known that the symmetries of a quantum system can be realized, from a formal point of view, through purely projective representations of the corresponding group. This can be seen as the manifestation, at the level of non‑relativistic quantum mechanics, of a phenomenon known in quantum field theory as a ’t Hooft anomaly. The aim of this thesis is to show, through specific examples, how the presence of an anomaly can be exploited to study the degeneracy of the Hamiltonian spectrum, obtaining results that remain invariant under a wide class of perturbations of the model.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
