The present study investigates the phenomenon of water infiltration in hilly vineyard soils, with particular reference to the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene DOCG area, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The research is framed within the context of issues related to climate change and the increasing occurrence of extreme rainfall events, phenomena that make the understanding of infiltration, runoff, and soil erosion processes increasingly relevant. The aim of the study is to estimate soil infiltration capacity under saturated conditions through experimental field tests, in order to evaluate the hydrological behaviour of vineyard soils and their potential agronomic and environmental implications. The theoretical background concerning the main infiltration processes and the hydrological models described in the scientific literature is also presented. The adopted methodology consists of experimental surveys carried out in vineyards using the SATURO device by METER Group for the measurement of saturated hydraulic conductivity. The obtained results were related to agronomic management practices and to the texture of the analysed soils. The measurements highlight how the high heterogeneity of the soils is reflected in a marked variability of infiltration capacity and suggest a significant role of preferential flows in determining water movement within the soil profile. Overall, the study demonstrates how the physical and structural characteristics of soils can influence infiltration phenomena in hilly vineyard environments, contributing to the expansion of the knowledge currently available in the scientific literature.
Il presente studio analizza il fenomeno dell’infiltrazione dell’acqua nei suoli vitati collinari, con particolare riferimento ai territori della DOCG Conegliano-Valdobbiadene, riconosciuti Patrimonio UNESCO. La ricerca si inserisce nel contesto delle problematiche legate al cambiamento climatico e all’aumento degli eventi meteorici estremi, fenomeni che rendono sempre più rilevante la comprensione dei processi di infiltrazione, ruscellamento ed erosione del suolo. L’obbiettivo dello studio è stimare la capacità d’infiltrazione dei suoli in condizione di saturazione mediante prove sperimentali in campo, al fine di valutare il comportamento idrologico dei terreni vitati e le possibili implicazioni agronomiche e ambientali. Verranno esposte le basi teoriche relative ai principali processi di infiltrazione e ai modelli idrologici descritti in letteratura. La metodologia adottata prevede rilievi sperimentali effettuati in vigneti mediante l’utilizzo dello strumento SATURO della METER Group per la misura della conducibilità idraulica satura. I risultati ottenuti sono stati messi in relazione con pratiche agronomiche e con la tessitura dei suoli analizzati. Le misurazioni eseguite evidenziano come l’elevata eterogeneità dei suoli si rifletta in una marcata variabilità della capacità infiltrativa e suggeriscono un ruolo significativo dei flussi preferenziali nel determinare il movimento dell’acqua all’interno del profilo pedologico. Nel complesso, lo studio evidenzia come le caratteristiche fisiche e strutturali del suolo possano influenzare i fenomeni di infiltrazione nei terreni vitati collinari, contribuendo all’ampliamento delle conoscenze attualmente disponibili in letteratura.
