Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder with onset in early childhood, characterized by persistent patterns of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that may interfere with an individual’s functioning across different life contexts and with their developmental trajectory. The present study aims to investigate the role of parenting styles in families of children with ADHD, while also examining possible differences in parenting practices according to the children’s age. Specifically, the parenting practices of four male participants were compared: two diagnosed with ADHD and two without a diagnosis, belonging to two different age groups. The sample included two fifth-grade primary school children and two third-year lower secondary school students. The assessment was conducted through the administration of questionnaires and standardized tasks designed to explore attentional functioning, behavioural characteristics, and parenting styles. The collected data were analysed by comparing the different profiles identified. This study seeks to contribute to a better understanding of the role of the family context in child and adolescent development, highlighting how parenting styles may differ according to both the presence of ADHD and the developmental stage.
