Diet is the main factor influencing the intestinal microbiota in animals, and their growth in terms of production performance depends on the health of the microbiota. The use of additives to support intestinal function, thus safeguarding the health and well-being of broiler chickens, is widespread. The primary objective of this experimental thesis is to evaluate the effect of dietary supplementation with probiotic additives on production performance and intestinal balance in broiler chickens. The experimental trial, conducted at the University of Padua animal facility, involved 520 Ross 308 male chickens for a period of 42 days of age. At 24 days of age, 48 birds were slaughtered and intestinal tissue samples were collected. In addition to monitoring production performance in vivo, morphological assessments of villi and crypts and quantification of goblet cells were performed to determine how these additives affect the digestive system and animal health.
