The basis of this study is the analysis of the use of cover crops (CC) in the agricultural sector, mainly in the vineyard. The goal of this degree thesis is to provide an analysis of the data collected, in particular by focusing on the different applicability and the positive effect of CC in various areas. The thesis is divided into several chapters and the first provides a general introduction to the characteristics of the CC with relative pros and cons. The second chapter deals with developing an account of some analyzes published on the subject both nationally and internationally, these deal with the relationship and effects between CC and soil (erosion, organic matter and microbial biodiversity), on the crop. income (biological control on insects, on the quality of wine and reduction of attack by pathogens) and on the environment (effect on nitrate and N2O pollution). In the third chapter, some economic considerations are made regarding the use of CCs. Thanks to this research it was possible to analyze some factors related to the use of CC in different contexts, bringing about their positive or negative effects.
Alla base di questo studio vi è l’analisi dell’utilizzo delle cover crop (CC) nel settore agricolo, principalmente nel vigneto. L’obbiettivo di questa tesi di laurea è quello di fornire un’analisi dei dati raccolti in particolare ponendo l’attenzione sulla diversa applicabilità e sull’effetto positivo delle CC in svariati ambiti. La tesi è articolata in diversi capitoli e nel primo viene fornita un’introduzione generale alle caratteristiche delle CC con relativi pro e contro. Nel secondo capitolo ci si occupa di sviluppare un resoconto di alcune analisi pubblicate sull’argomento sia a livello nazionale che internazionale, queste si vanno ad occupare della relazione e degli effetti tra CC e terreno (erosione, sostanza organica e biodiversità microbica), sulla coltura da reddito (controllo biologico su insetti, sulla qualità del vino e riduzione attacco da parte dei patogeni) e sull’ambiente (effetto su inquinamento da nitrati e N2O). Nel terzo capitolo si vanno a fare alcune considerazioni economiche riguardo l’uso delle CC. Grazie a questo lavoro di ricerca è stato possibile analizzare alcuni fattori legati all’uso delle CC in diversi contesti, apportandone i relativi effetti positivi o negativi.
