This paper deals with the question concerning the presence of Duns Scotus in the work of Gilles Deleuze, by taking into account the two concepts of ‘univocity of being’ and ‘principle of individuation’. The analysis aims at demonstrating that: 1) the problematic of individuation is not detachable from that of univocity as far as Différence et répétition and Spinoza et le problème de l’expression are concerned; 2) individuation acquires theoretical autonomy only in the light of the concept of heccéité. Such considerations lead us to reflect on the homogeneity of the Deleuzian philosophy, and particularly on the meaning and applicability of the concept of repetition.

Abstract
This paper deals with the question concerning the presence of Duns Scotus in the work of Gilles Deleuze, by taking into account the two concepts of ‘univocity of being’ and ‘principle of individuation’. The analysis aims at demonstrating that: 1) the problematic of individuation is not detachable from that of univocity as far as Différence et répétition and Spinoza et le problème de l’expression are concerned; 2) individuation acquires theoretical autonomy only in the light of the concept of heccéité. Such considerations lead us to reflect on the homogeneity of the Deleuzian philosophy, and particularly on the meaning and applicability of the concept of repetition.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
